Home Place Pastures is a 5th-generation family farm transitioning from row cropping to a vertically-integrated, sustainable, pastured meat operation. Home Place produces Certified Humane, heritage breed pork, grass-fed beefand lamb in outdoor production systems without the use of antibiotics. Our farming practices focus on animal welfare and the health of our soils. We operate a USDA-inspected slaughter and processing facility and a retail butcher shop on the farm. We service roughly 100 restaurants and retail accounts each week, from Nashville to New Orleans, with our fresh product. Additionally, we operate a growing meat subscription program, which ships out each month via UPS.

Home Place Pastures is seeking a Picker/Packer to ensure the fulfillment of the direct to consumer and assist with wholesale orders placed through our online sales channels. Schedule will be Monday through Friday.


JOB REQUIREMENTS

  • Ability to handle below freezing temperatures (~4 degrees) in a large freezer environment for a couple of hours a day on average. Proper cold weather protection will be provided.
  • Going from ambient temperature environments to a below freezing environment is common and will happen multiple times a day.
  • Able to lift at least 60 lbs.
  • Must be able to bend, lift, kneel, or stoop.
  • Ability to read and understand English.
  • Ability to accurately read a packing slip, identifying quantity and the product the order requires. (What and how many)
  • Ability to follow instructions related to picking, packing, building boxes, arranging orders, and finalizing orders for shipment.
  • Attention to detail is a must - quality assurance ends with the picker/packer.
  • Organizing freezer with fresh product to keep up with demand.
  • Helps keep the freezer, cooler, and warehouse areas clean.
  • Moving fresh inventory from the cooler, where wholesale orders are packed fresh, into our freezer to be sold later or used in retail orders.
  • Practice safe work practices, calling out any hazards or concerns when needed.
  • Ability to adapt and overcome unique challenges and situations, this is a farm after all.
  • Wash eggs using advanced egg washing equipment.
  • Operate a pallet jack and/or forklift when necessary.
  • Assist other departments with packaging/sealing or processing (excludes the harvest floor).


It may be necessary to drive a large box truck and have a Class D (air brake amendment) certification added to your driver’s license. Home Place Pastures will purchase the certification if any cost is incurred.


HOURS

  • Monday through Friday: 8am to 5pm with 1 hour lunch.
