MARSHALL BARTLETT | CO-FOUNDER & CEO
Marshall grew up on the Home Place and fell in love with the farm and his hometown throughout his childhood. After graduating from the Mississippi School of Math and Science, Marshall left the south to attend Dartmouth College for undergrad. After college he spent time in Montana, completed an AmeriCorps term in New Orleans rebuilding houses destroyed in Katrina, and eventually ran operations for a small business specializing in sourcing local meat for New Orleans chefs. In 2014, at the age of 24, Marshall returned to the Home Place with a new vision for the family farm, and has worked for the last 10 years to bring this vision to reality. You can usually find him on the Home Place Monday through Saturday somewhere between the meat plant, the farming operation, and the Farm Store. He often gives farm tours and butcher classes at the Home Place. He spends his off farm time with his wife Katie and daughter Joan, or traveling to help/ learn from other farmers and meat processors.
JEMISON BARTLETT | CO-FOUNDER AND CFO
Jemison earned a BA in economics from the University of the South and an MBA from Texas A&M University with a concentration in agricultural finance. His background and career in banking adds business, finance, and management experience to HPP’s operations. Creating a financially successful and environmentally sustainable company in Como, MS is Jemison’s mission for the Home Place.

JOHN JORDAN PROCTOR | CHIEF MARKETING OFFICER
John Jordan Proctor grew up just outside Greenville Mississippi, where his family farms for a living. He came to HPP in 2014 as our first summer intern, while he was studying english and environmental studies at Ole Miss, and he quickly became everyone's favorite HPP team member. We hired him as soon as he graduated from University of Mississippi in 2015. From the beginning he's done it all, including working the farm, butchering, and delivering product. Now he focuses on our restaurant customers across Mississippi and Tennessee, manages our farmers markets, and oversees our direct to consumer marketing and social media management. He is passionate about building viable agricultural models that give farmers opportunities outside the commodity industry, and providing top quality proteins to chefs and families across the south.
Gabe Valadez | Plant Production Manager
Gabe grew up in Senatobia, MS and served in Army before returning home and joining our butcher team. His skill, thoughtfulness, and patience quickly made him a critical part of the plant staff. After a quick 2 years, Gabe was promoted to oversee beef and pork production in our USDA inspected plant
LANCE "PAUL" MOSS | PACKAGING SUPERVISOR/BUTCHER
Paul is another team member who has been with us since the beginning. Paul supervises all of the packaging inside the production room. He’s got a big job to do, and we count on his ability to keep all of our packaging airtight and looking sharp. In addition to packaging, Paul is a skilled butcher. When he’s not at work he’s managing his dog kennels and hanging out with his family here in Como. Fred Moss is his brother.
Brad Hayden | Farm Store Manager
Brad Hayden hails from the Tupelo area, and has been a good friend of HPP's since we started 10 years ago. He honed his BBQ skills first as a side gig and then professionally for a restaurant group in Oxford MS. Brad would also do the cooking at our events before we opened our Farm Store, so it made sense to bring him onboard when we opened our very own restaurant here on the farm! Our creative, unique, vibrant menu specials are from the brain of Brad, as is our ever popular Steak Night on Friday nights!
Fred Moss | Harvest Floor Supervisor
Fred Moss is a vital member of our slaughter crew. He works with Carlos and Poo to ensure the humane handling of every one of our animals. He’s a team player, and always willing to lend a hand no matter the task. Fred has worked around farms his entire life and brings a ton of experience to Home Place. Fred loves to fish and can be found hanging out with his friends and family on the weekends. Fred was born and raised in Como.
